Split Pea Soup

A long awaited rainy day that we so need what better time to make Split Pea Soup.

9 am time to put on my slow cooker n fill it with Polishes goodness. I am using 1 Spiral Ham bone ( I bought from Sam's ) . We use the spiral ham for lunch meat. The ham that could not be cut with spiral blade I cut small enough to have in the Soup for dinner. Here is the list of ingredients you need:

1 ham bone
1 onion quartered

A little sea salt ( I add just a pinch at first even though the ham is salty but with adding that much water you will probably resalt again later to )

Palm full of salt free garlic herb seasoning

3 bayleaves ( I love the flavor of bayleaves so you can just add 1if you like )

4 gloves Garlic ( I love garlic but if you add to much it will over power.

Add water till the Bone is just covered.

Cook this on high for 2 hours. Retaste to see if it needs salt.

3 carrots cut into small pieces

3 celery stalks cut into small pieces

Now add the veggies. Cook on high for 2 hours.

Now it is time to take the ham bone out n discard.

Add 2 lb of Slip Peas  let cook on high for 2 more hours. Check again if it needs salt.

Try and take out the bay leaves if they have broken up it is ok. This needs to be blended with a small submersible blender ( I have had mine for over 20 years n love it ) blend till all is creamy. Now it is time to taste if it needs salt.

In a bowl add the precut ham add the Split Pea Soup if you have add some Croutons ( my hubby loves this n also some chopped Green Onions.

Enjoy, from my happy place to yours.

:-):-):-) as always you know it is Contagious :-):-):-)

Sincerely Reny

Happy New Year

I am going to make my Spaghetti tonight for dinner, the whole family will be over. Having a glass of white wine with it and maybe some of that will find it's way in to the sauce too lol. I am also making the regular spaghetti and also wheat ( which I prefer over the regular pasta ) but all of the family likes it.

As always :) you know it contagious and :) cooking to everyone :) :) :) Reny
